Ode to My Hamster
Oh Zoe, my Zoe,
My cute little Zoe
You are so sweet and small
I love you so much,
I catch you when you fall.
Oh love, my love,
You're precious as a dove.
So when you die I will not cry.
I'll know you're up above.
Now look at the sky,
all blue and white.
The clouds, the air,
not a single fright.
Look at the sun go round the moon.
The moon will watch you, even at noon.
Now look at night,
as dim as black.
The blood that spilled
from an ugly attack.
Look at the light
shining bright in my eyes
Now look at the finger nail moon
up in the sky.
The pen was as dark
as a pair of black, evil eyes.
It smelled like roses
kept in water too long.
It was as long as a winter's day,
and a winter's night.It looked like a witches' broom
on a moonless night.
It filled me
like smog in a city.
The pen wrote with red ink,
as red as blood.
Probably it was blood.
Life is like gentle garbage
So smooth, sweet and colorful.Turtles are like smelly toothbrushes
They just sit there and stink.Animals are like thoughtful shoes.
They move from place to place,
and have a brain.Computers are like friendly paper.
They allow you to do stuff on them,
and don't get mad if you mess up.A dog's tail is like an elegant crayon
as it moves swiftly back and forth.
The woods they're nice,
cool air breezes. The trees so tall,
some brown, some green,
Bird nests
and bumpy brown and white bark.Nasty tall weeds going downhill,
green flowers,
a lot of garbage,
the tick crawling up my leg,
crawling and crawling
just screaming and screaming
get it off me
get it off
My baby sister is as beautiful
as a dancing angel in the sky
She flies as elegantly
as a butterfly
Her mind opens
like a blossoming rose
She tries her hardest
to get to the other side
of the room.
She falls like Bambi
but gets back up again
trying her hardest
to sound like an echoing
familiar sound.
My baby sister has a scent
like a fresh mountain spring.
Oh Kate, my Kate,
What about a date?
I would take you to UpSkate,
wouldn't that be great?
Hey Baby, oh Baby,
What about a maybe?
I would buy ice cream for you,
that's fitting for a lady.
How's later on tonight?
You barely leave my sight.
I know you're very busy, but
just try with all your might.Oh Kate, my Kate,
I know it's very late,
When talking until 9:00, to make an evening
date.
Too late, I'm out,
Must go, without a doubt.
I feel I have to shout, my heart's so empty like a drought.
You ask my age?
I fear I'm in a cage.
If I were old I could be bold and make
the world my stage.
But Kate, it's Fate,
I'm still a little green.
I wish that I were 21, but shucks, I'm just
thirteen.
Life is like a beeper
You never know when it will go off
It might be a good vibe
or a bad vibe
You can get a job
or lose it just as fast.
You can give a life
or lose a life,
Just like that.
As I look around, I see a mound.
I see a tree embedded in the ground.
I also see a town
With a road and a bound.I see a wooded area
full of bugs and bacteria.
It gives me a little deleria.
But writing this poem is a great idea.I sit here thinking about this and that. Who was here before us?
Who will be here after us?
I'm not sure, but
it must be important.
Life is like an unknown reason
Your emotions and fears carry your tears Life is like a changing season
Your great hatred can be steered. When you try your hardest
to stay out of trouble,
The best action you think of
Can turn into your worst.Life is like a chain-reaction.
Your chemicals can be altered.
Think before you act and maybe
you'll be saved from disaster.
The trees all stand,
tall and grand,
with snow atop,
and all with drop
to the ground
in the round
circle of trees
where hopefully
April showers
will bring flowers.I sit between this all,
with my notebook noting all.
A bird sits high and sings its song
as I walk along
through the trees,
that stand
tall and grand.
The trees are swaying
as if saying
Clouds are coming
rain is waiting
A flourescent wind is blowing
A tree of leaves,
like emeralds glowing
and flowers of gold
Then we are told,
Time to go in
And start the school day
over again.
Oh TV, my TV,
How wonderful art thou;
I love to sit back and relax
As I watch Kid Pow Wow.
The La-Z-Boy recliner
is the most comfortable chair.
To sit in one is just as fun
As floating on the air.
Lots of things for you to buy
There's nothing there that goes awry.If you like Horror, it's over there.
Go and sit down in the chair.
What about Romance?
They have the series Dragon Lance.
Stephen King?
He's our #1 fling! The booksellers are really cool.
They even have a book on Pool.
If you need help with software tools,
There is a book called Windows for fools.
The bookstore is the place to be.
Especially for me.
The mall is full of fun and buying,
toys buzzing, peope talking,
and footsteps tapping. The mall is huge with laughter and talk, and dollar bills crinkling,
change clinking and credit cards sliding.
The mall grows empty by the lowering sun, stores closing, chain-linked gates
shutting,
and people leaving.Completely closed, the mall sits there, now to befriend janitors and night-watchmen 'til the sun rises.
It is too hot out.
The sun burns, crisping the earth
to a burnt cookie.
A lot of people go to work
And think about their homes
They think about their kids
When they forget their keysThey think about their wives
When their car is in the garage
They think about stuff
They don't even want to buy
One tree stands
alone, not like the others
in the surrounding woods, but
my school towers
over the tree, dwarfing it
under its collossal
human-made size.
This tree has been there a long time
and seen a lot of things come and go.
My school was once a church school,
which the tree watched, opening day
'til the end day. This tree has seen a new school come
And hopefully
will live to see it go.
Christmas is better than my birthday.
Everybody remembers about Christmas
but not about my birthday.
Pizza is just as good as volleyball.
I'm going to play on the volleyball team! A mosquito is different than a dog.
When a mosquito bites it itches,
but when a dog bites, it hurts.
Oh Puff, oh Puff
The one I love
The one that tells me
That he loves me
The one that comes in the dark
And scares me like a fox
The one that really loves me
Oh Puff, oh Puff
My Love and my Heart.
Oh Tree, my Tree,
You are so free
You are not like the rest
The things you see
Satisfy me
Because you have a nest
which some people
deny me
Life is like a beach
It has big waves and little waves
Life is like a butterfly
Graceful and beautiful,
with all different designs and colorsLife is like a banana
You can get a good taste or a bad taste.
My McDonalds is a great place
I love to eat their fries
But the favorite things I love to eat
are their delicious pies.
There are so many different kinds
of foods people will eat
But the very best of those must be
the taste of Big Mac meat.
They give you free food coupons, too.
"Half off" is such a deal
I'm not lying to you
That's the truth, for real.
The kids all like to go there
Because it's fun to play
Their parents don't even care
If they stay there all day.
I went to the clinic as nervous as a person ready
to jump off a bridge.
The nurse came in with needles.
They were as sharp as thumbtacks.
Seconds later she stuck one in my skin.
Then, after that, the next went in too.
They were as painful
as knives going through my arm.
We like to go to Newburgh Mall
to go and see each store
And see each thing there is to see
And even wish for more.People like to do more things
there's many things to see
I like to go to Newburgh Mall
And buy more things for me.Lots of people roam around
they eat and play and walk,
When there is nothing else to do
At least they all can talk. They like to go to all the stores
and run around and shop
They don't care if their money's spent, They keep going 'til they drop.
Monday Night Raw
Is the best show
I ever saw.
Before it comes on I am so excited
it makes me want to wrestle myself!
On Monday Night Raw
You see fire crackers glowing
Wrestlers throwing each around,
Hitting each other with chairs,
And you hear loud noises.
Monday Night Raw!
Oh McDonalds, their juicy and fat
hamburgers
Oh McDonalds, their burger has onions,
pickles
And sometimes cheese.
Mmmmmm......
That just makes me want to shout!
Oh McDonalds, their oily and salty fries When I dip my fries in barbeque sauce,
It tastes so good it makes me want to
Jump into a swimming pool.
Oh McDonalds!
Massive Chainsaws roaring
Piercing screams calling
Thick blood splashing
Tough flesh ripping
Only from my chainsaw
Only in my dreams.
Sitting outside on a cold winter's night, Watching the stars, how they shine so
bright,
Looking for the dippers, the stars all shoot
quicker.
I listen to the music-making forest, and it
sounds
just like a chorus.
I'm freezing so I go inside,
I open up the door and hear the roar
of a warm and cozy fire.
Oh Mac, my Mac
With the ears that attack.
Big black nose, big black eyes
And spit always hanging down.
Warm and cuddly as he sleeps by my side.
The buses ride by
and the kids wave good-bye.
The flag pole stands near the school.
The branches sway
as the leaves fall
and the birds sing
to the music of it all.
Right past the school
are trees that are cool
The wind blows
but where I don't know
There's a dirt road
that has pine cones
The pine cones are
shaped like stars
Because right past the school
The trees are cool.
The burger, the fries
They water in my mouth
The smell comes riding
through the air
When I dip the fries
in the ketchup....
Oh how I like my Burger King!
Shakes, soda, oh my
So much to chose from
Oh so little time
Oh how I like my Burger King!
Oh mommy, oh daddy
You guys are so sweet
Daddy you give me $20
About every week
Mommy you show me
Things I need to know
How to care for children
How to tidy up a home
You guys are so great
You're always up-to-date
I love ya
I mean it
When I was three my mom left me
In a hallway all by myself.
Just me and no one else.I stood there and looked around
When I was done I looked at the ground
A man my parents knew found me and frowned. He said, "Little one, did you get locked out? I
don't know what I did but I guess I was scared.
He knocked on my door.
When my mom answered the man said,
"I think you lost something precious and rare." My
mom said, "Oh, thank you!" She was filled with happiness.
Safely at home,
I was nice, warm and loved
In my mother's arms.
Scrabble is a bunch of kids screaming
Trying to find words to put in boxes
Like a bunch of greedy animals fighting over
food
And then the game is over.
The naked crypt, creepy and dark
The bats are bloody and gory
The scary sounds so do confound the ear Those heartbroken souls
Wolves ripping flesh, with teeth
That could tear the back seat out
Rooms that chill, dogs that bite,
People that sting and animals that fright. Lava that spills hot and gooey
It could melt your skin right off.
Zombies that kill and crows that bite
They could pluck at you night by night.
I'm walking on a beach
In the middle of the ocean
My wet feet sinking into the moist sand Water crashing against my legs
I pick up seashells lying on the shore
The wavy sun beating on my sweating back I dive into the water, cooling down
I float out in the ocean
Like a bird soaring through the sky.
The Rain falls lightly against the grass, Distant blares from distant horns interrupt the beat of steady showers,
Over the towering evergreens the mighty
Hudson
Makes its way down its well-worn path.
A cloudy mist covers the valley
With only the brightest lights peeking
Through the blanket, like a child after
bedtime.
The naked trees have begun to bud. This place is like a Utopia
But the scent of harsh, bitter nicotine Crawls through the air into my nose.... Dearest Newburgh.
Oh dad, my dad, you work in a scary place If you were a mouse there, you wouldn't
want
to show your face.
You are a mad scientist or something like
that.
Your experiments would work if you only had a
rat.
You are only given the smallest of mice To give them a shot you have to try twice. It would be so easy if you had a big fat
rat.
It would take an injection just like that. It would make you come home earlier
and make me glad
Because you're my dad, my only dad.
Children playing, building sand castles People playing in the water
The sound of beach music
Some people are in awe of the dolphins
flipping and being free
The wild horse will come
All people will stop at once and
watch this beautiful creature
walk over the sand
Don't care about the time! Just listen
To the music of the beach.
A birdsong rang through the air
The uninviting bark of a dog
Echoed off the old filthy wore-out street. The cracked road was like an old woman's
face
Pebbles and rocks smoothed
Where the road meets the curb
There were sounds of skateboards rolling, Like jets soaring through the sky.
Then I noticed three cars honking
Sounding like rush hour in the city. Then everything went silent, not a peep. So I walked inside and went to sleep.
I have two friends, Kia and Sonia.
They are swell, and they don't dwell.
They don't smell, but you know what?
Sonia fell
down the stairs
She was OK, but I had to say
It was really funny
Kia is my friend
But sometimes it depends
On how she acts
If she wears a hat
Or something else sort of like that
These are my friends, Sonia and Kia
It was nice having your attention. Come over and
meet them!
I had a dog
Her name was Missy
My dad gave her away
And now I'm missing
The good times we had
We both were glad
To have each other
But now I'm sad
Missy is gone
She's in another home
Gosh, I miss that dog
There was no one else like her.
I'm sitting here
The light is low
I'm waiting for
A drop of snow.
Doesn't matter what size,
Could be big or small,
As long as I get
That drop of snow.
When I go to the beach
I feel the sand in my feet
I feel the air in my hair
The water feels cool on my skin
And I want to go back
To the beach.
Oh Leo, My Leo,
Your lips are soft like mashed potatoes with lots of butter
Round and red like a delicious apple
Your eyes are the cutest eyes
I've ever seen in my life.
They are green ovals
like emerald chestnuts. If I ever get to meet you,
I'll devour you
Slow
Like a strawberry ice cream.
People running
After the bell rings
People fighting
Over little things
Like pens and pencils
The sweet smell of pine needles
The smell of the mist from the water of the
spring
The sound of a robin chirping in the pine
trees.
Evil enters like a needle
And spreads like an oak tree.
Evil knows where evil sleeps.
You do not need to teach the path of the
forest
To an old gorilla
When you go to a donkey's house
Don't talk about ears.
Thanks cost nothing
The one carried does not realize
How far away the town is.
If something that was going to crop off your
head
Only knocked off your cap,
You should be grateful.
Lip smacking bubbles
Gum gets twisted in my teeth
A sugary sweet
My poems bite
I try to fight
To get them right
They are like a book without words
Or a bike without wheels
I really try to get them right
But still they bite
Like a class without children
So in conclusion
Even through I try
for them to be right
My poems still bite.
It was mournful, teary eyes talking
Of how great she was.
When I looked into her pale face
It reminded me of when she was in the
hospital
With tubes, so lifeless.
At the dinner, silence.
Then, all we had left of her were memories. We realized she was really gone.
When I'm outside
I hear the sound of cars going by
The sound of birds high in the sky
The little squirrels climb their tree
To where the wind sits peacefully
They say up there it's very clear
I bet you wish that you were here.
People walking and talking
Money flying and buying
The joy of hearing the sweet sound
Of the cash register go ka-ching.
As you walk through the mall
you hear kids go Mommy Mommy
Look! It's Kay-Bee can I get a toy?
Then as you walk farther and farther
Into the dark dungeon
Of the store they call The Wall:
You see Headbangers, Rappers, Greasers
With their Posters, CDs and Tapes.
The scrubby CD
Was totally BC
TV is better to me.But when it played
Everyone stayed
Because of its gloomy melody.I tried to cover my ears
And not hear
That stupid music. But at last it was over,
and just in time
For my favorite show.
Where do all the shadows go?
In the night they don't show.
A chill flies upon me when the wind blows, As I sit by the fire it comes back again I sit and watch the glow.
The fire knows
the wind will change again.
I like to walk about
I move my feet really fast
I do it with style
Cold, my cold,
Why do you mock and lock my senses
And clog my throat? It's time
To run and have fun yet instead
I have to lie in bed.
Sweet Annmarie
She loves just me
She also loves Mr. McGee.
No, she just loves me.
She also loves the person near the willow
tree.
No, she just loves me!
What a fool I am
She can love others
But still love me.
I sit ready to go
To a place I surely know
Of frightened kids and hanging plants
That barely never growA place with drills
Where music fills
the air, and where
kids hate to goI know from experience
That burnt teeth smell.
It's really bad every time I go there
It really makes me sneeze.
The beach wind is like
A diamond in the ruff
A warm earmuff on a cold day
A ray of sunshine when no one is gay
A good luck charm
in a world of bad fortune almost every day
Three stuffy beavers built a dam
Filled in the cracks with stone lambs.
Three stuffy beavers finished their jobs When they came home, they ate corn on the
cob.
If the lambs got out of the dam
They filled the cracks with the cobs.
As rain falls and cars drive by
Terence starts to run but quickly falls
down
A tree stands still as a bird
It's cold, windy and wet
And clouds fill the dark sky.
People walking and talking
with friendly gestures
Doors that open, doors that close,
and doors still untouched
Students and teachers
walking frantically
Footsteps caused by
some people
A copier still copying, and
an untouched water faucet.
The world is in constant motion!
I stop by you
Where's that old face?
You don't talk.
I can tell
inside you, somewhere, you're scarred
from your head to your heart.
You feel so cold inside.
You're not the same anymore.
You're all bottled up
But you don't tell anyone.
Every soul's a place
to build upon a faith
to look for, inside,
and watch it grow.
I know I'm not all alone, but feel
almost like a person stranded on an island. Are you too lonely to speak?
Come out to the world and talk!
It could seem like a dream
But you'd better see that it's not!
I pass on through
I blend with the air
I could be you
Or someone you used to knowAvoiding the others
It's safer to look awayI am trapped in my own world
No one can hear me call out
The hollowed hearts
And faded dreams
One time I was happy but now I'm sad
I have always felt like I was never wanted
anywhere
Once I actually found that I was wanted But now I am back to where I began
I guessI could be somewhere and no one would even know
I'm there
I could seem like a shadow or even
invisible
I am there, I AM THERE!
Listen, to me I am HERE!You the one over there, the one I've known for a
long time
You know me, you know who I amYou were the one I would die over if I ever knew
you better....
You were always the one to be there to talk to me
and help meThis was before we did get to know eachother
better.....that was...BEFORE
Then one day were were good friends
And well now we're just haters of eachothers own
world
You are on that side
I am here on my own side, with all who back me
up....That was a long time ago though...
You no longer exist.
I no longer live within you
We are gone.....Just gone forever.
Words, I know not how to
Speak, words you can not
Hear, but look into my eyes
Hear the words my lips can't
Speak, my eyes speak
Words for you to hear. No, don't look away, for you
will not hear what they
have to say, my eyes,
That love more than
words can say.
The smooth rocky sand
You step on at the beach
Is like stepping on a bunch
Of freshly washed sheets.
Hearing the peaceful waves
Crashing soothes your stress
Seeing the boats sailing
Such a pretty sight
Adds to your delight.
Birds chirping, kids surfing
People laughing, waves crashing,
It's so soothing at the calm
Beautiful beach.
Any color you want
As long as it's black.
Black would be the color of
My soldier's heart.
Black as a dark alley that
Vainly calls the name of me
Black is too solemn
To have recognition
So with all due respect
I'll stick with my knees.
I open the door and sounds rush out
The kids are screaming while they pout
I order food and then sit down
I look and listen all aroundLettuce is crunching, trays are crackling Soda dispensing, ice machine rackling
As I leave McDonalds, I do wonder,
Why do I come to this place of thunder?
Oh father, my father
You have done so much.
When will you come home to us?
Waitiing near the window sill,
Wondering when you will be here,
The time goes by so slow.
Yes, you are finally HERE!
As I sit on the tracks waiting for the
train
I can only think of all my pain
I hear the whisper of trees
And feel the crisp autumn breeze
I hear the rustling of leaves
And feel my tears drip to my sleeves
When is it coming? That big iron horse
It will put me on my courseThe incoming train
With its earsplitting whistle
Came darting towards me
As fast as a missile
As it came into range
I sprang up like a cat
Only to hear my weary body go SPLAT
What is the point?
I sit and wonder.
I don't understand
All of this blunder
You go on and on
Forever and ever
When will it end?
Never, oh never!
Oh Mikey, my Mikey
I loved you, don't you know
You were my superman
You had that special glowWe lived so very near
We never were apart
We used to go get candy
At Hope's mini-martBut then one day you had to go
To live among the clouds
Until the day we meet again
To my heart you are bound.
I wake up in the morning, only to see
splashes made by the sun
in the sky, and all I can think of is... "Time to make the donuts!"As I sit on my back porch
Watching the ravens fly, overhead
All I can think of is,
"Time to make the donuts!"As I drive to work in my Ford Taurus
The radio's announcing a tornado
And national disasters later in the day Still all I can think of is,
"Time to make the donuts!"I turn into the parking lot at DD's.
It is time to make the donuts.
Darn.
Early morning, sun not shine
Shadow figure not known
Movement quiet to open store
Man with little shares more timeFine dancing all life time
Man of time I loved his line
Walk with me when so young
Talk to me give all his chimeYesterday news all good
Today earth move underfoot
Short time coming life gone
I love you, goodbye my Pop.
They spoke to me as if to an empty lunch
pail
I'm wondering why I stand here, a door
stop.
A rolling stone rolls away
But their words have stopped me dead.I walk into this fortress of brick
To learn each brick of every wall
Never to see the sun but through a window. Knowledge is not just a bunch of bricks to
swallow!
Oh Spice Girls, you Spice Girls,
You really cannot sing.
I wish you'd quit the music bit
And do another thing.Your movie really stunk as well.
You all have awful taste.
Listening to you all sing
Just feels like such a waste.I've listened to others
And some sound really great
After a while,
Your music I start to hate.
Coral reefs
beyond beliefs
Waves and caves
underneath.
Dolphins, Whales
and sharks.
Don't go past
these marks!Sea shells and deep
water wells.
Clams that slam
with pearls all
pretty with swirls.
The ocean is full of light
and deep blue waters
that are bright.
My Max, my Max
You're a cute little dog
But sometimes you act
Like a hog.
You run around in mud
And look like a milk dud.My Max, my Max,
You're so cute
But your barking drives me crazy
I wish you'd go mute.
You're so cute in many ways,
Having you really pays.
Your brown puppy dog eyes
And your tail that flies. My Max, my Max, you're the best
But sometimes you can be a pest.
Walking in the door
What smells you smell,
Like cooking apples, and much more
Candles burning sweet vanilla
Dinner cooking in the oven
Lemonade being made
So sweet and yellow, then it's gone.Walking in the door,
What sounds you hear,
Birds talking, more, more, more,
Dogs barking from down the road,
TV's on, showing who knows what,
Radios blasting, you really don't care, And then it's gone.Walking in the door
You know everything well
From the dog on the floor
To your mom in the chair
The needle in her hand
Fabric in the other
The dog wakes up, then lies back down
As if to say, "Oh, it's just you!"
Oh Dad, my Dad, oh how I don't know you so well but I act like I do. When the day comes my dad that you want to see me
I'll be gone to the heaven like a man on the moon.
As I play the game with such intensity
I smell how afraid the other team is
and when I plow someone down I can tell that person won't run my away again.
So next time that team plays us
they'll be ready for us and know we mean
business.
The bug spun out like
Iverson's spin move to the hoop
with even a little swoop
He used the moon as the hoop
and his wings as his skills but
I guess his skills weren't all that
because right now that bug is really FLAT
Music is playing
The kids all love staying
Here at the place
Where clowns paint your face.
The money is handy
When kids want some candy.
Now lets go on rides
Some make your stomach
Go on all sides.
Now the day is done
We hope you had fun!
It was late at night,
The moon was bright,
And the fireflies
They shined their light.
Then the mosquitoes
Started to bite. It's time to wake up,
The sun has reached its height!
When I walked to the big Oak tree
I noticed Poison Ivy wrapped around.
I saw the squirrels running up the tree. Then I thought to myself,
"How do squirrels not get Poison Ivy?"
Then I touched the tree.
Then I got Poison Ivy.
I'll never touch that tree again.
As I see this beautiful day
The leaves swaying delicately
I go outside without delay
Outside, to see what I may see.
As I surround myself in nature,
Grass is green, so are the trees,
I close my eyes, turn off my pager,
And fall, in rapture, to my knees.
But now I see a horrible sight
The trees are rotten, life sucked out!
What, I ask, could cause this plight?
The hand of Man, without a doubt.
I am a teacher
I walk around with a red pen
I scare kids when I grade their tests
I don't miss a thing when I grade them
I make my students nervous
With my red pen behind my ear
When I take it off some of them scream
I look over people's backs
and take away the notes they pass.Well, the day is over, but I have to stay until
three
Because Adam and Eve ate one of my apples.
It was as silent as an abandoned
battlefield,
That winter night so cold,
When many people came together, their ears
open
To tell tales new and old.
As each one told their story
It formed a scene in every mind
Luckily, these were recorded,
So cavemen's stories we now can find.
Maybe it's the melted cheese
Or perhaps it's the tomato sauce
Why does pizza bring us to our knees?
Because when we're done, we don't need
floss? We can't say just why we like pizza
We only know we love to eat it
Other foods just taste so "blah"
Our lives to pizza, we do submit.Pizza puts me in a good mood,
So why look at me that way? It's always been my
favorite food.
I'm hooked pizza, that's all I can say.
As I floated to the tee
I saw the World of Golf.
There were trees from different countries, There were mountaintops full of snow,
And some with none at all.
There were Japanese temples,
And Mayan ruins.
There were lakes with swans
That turn into princesses.
Then I floated down to the tee,
And all I could see was the green.
Two guys in a bar, spitting and scratching, Play a game called card matching
Laugh at each other's stupid jokes
Turn to the bartender, ask for cokes,
Talk about their wives, what they do,
Try to pick up a waitress called Sue,
Then wipe the beer from their faces
Try to win her with drinking races
They both lose and die too soon
While their wives are waiting under the
moon.
I can hear what you say,
Doesn't mean I have to obey.
I can read what you write,
Doesn't mean you're right.
I can see what you do,
You can see me, too.
I feel what you touch
Doesn't mean much!
The birds are flying
The bees are buzzing
The animals awaken
The new mothers loving
The buds will open
The flowers will grow
It will get warmer
And then it will snow
It is springtime everywhere
We'll be happy and have no care.
Walking
Walking down the hill
Beautiful things
Green grass, and tall trees,
even the feel of the smooth breeze
Everything is beautiful now,
But what's in store for further
down
Walking, walking down the hill
Walking
Walking down the hill
Worse things
Brown grass, here's a frightful scare:
polluted air
Everything is worse now
But what's in store for further
down
Walking, walking down the hill
Walking
Walking down the hill
Bottom
Horrible things
Old tires, rusted chairs, even a paper
here or there
But what's in store further down
Nothing, you can only go up
And up is better
Walking, walking up the hill.
A boxer is like a furious firefly
He is mad at his opponent
He know what he wants
And he won't stop until he gets it
He moves around the ring
Swiftly and quickly
Just like a firefly
A firefly that is furious
The sky is as dark as an endless black
hole
The only light is the shining moon
I am high in the air
High enough to be in a cloud
Then I fall
Falling, falling, falling,
Falling as fast as the speed of
light
Nothing around me
Just air
Then I hit
As hard as five elephants
Like an ice cream cone onto a tile
floor
Then
I wake up.
The rain flows down, the lightning flashes The loud noise rumbles
As the rain into puddles splashes
You hear it loud and clear
It's magnificent like a prancing deer
Loud like water against the pier
And then the storm is over
The thunder goes away
And the sun is out to stay
The rumble of the waves
Salt smell in the air
Beside the water the beach lays
Not one soul has a care
The wind blows strong and sends the sand Across the ocean to the land
You see the sun setting slow
The great ball drops so very low
And then the only light you see
Is the moon over the waves, silently.
